Matthew Strazel has signed a three-year extension with AS Monaco, keeping him with the team through 2027.
French national team point guard Matthew Strazel and AS Monaco have agreed to a three-year contract extension, according to an official announcement.
"Joining Monaco two years ago took me to another dimension. I feel like it made me take responsibility," Strazel told the official AS Monaco website. "I want to be able to climb the ladder with the club, continue to contribute, and be a part of the success of this team. There are still goals that we haven't achieved, and I really want to be part of this project while being a major player."
Strazel's previous contract was set to expire in 2025. He joined Monaco in 2022, after beginning his professional career with LDCL ASVEL Villeurbanne in 2019.
The 22-year-old guard recently helped France secure a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he averaged 5.0 points and 1.6 assists in 11.5 minutes per game over five appearances.
Strazel's standout moment came during the group stage against Japan, where he scored 17 points, including a miraculous three-pointer with a foul that forced overtime.
In the last EuroLeague season, Strazel averaged 4.4 points and 1.8 assists over 17 games.
