The Spanish team officially announced that the star big man is staying in the organization for the foreseeable future, signing a new five-year deal.
In seven seasons with Los Blancos, the Cabo Verdean big man won 14 titles en route to becoming one of the best at his position in Europe and one of the highest-paid players in the continent.
In what was considered a down year for Tavares, the 32-year-old averaged 9.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks for 14.9 PIR in the EuroLeague.
Tavares has become the second star player to be signed to a long-term deal by Real Madrid, with Mario Hezonja inking a new contract earlier in the week.
