He becomes the fourth Celtic to win the award, joining Kevin McHale (1983–84 and 1984–85), Bill Walton (1985–86), and Malcolm Brogdon (2022–23).
In his fifth NBA season, Pritchard averaged career highs of 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 28.4 minutes across 80 games, including just three starts.
Pritchard received overwhelming support in the voting for the award, earning 82 out of a possible 100 first-place votes. Thirteen voters placed him second, while five ranked him third in the Sixth Man of the Year voting.
Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley, 28 years old and standing 196 cm tall, finished second in the voting. He received 13 first-place votes and averaged 16.3 points per game. Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome rounded out the top three, averaging 12.5 points per game.
