Kristaps Porzingis shared that he spoke with Jaylen Brown about managing knee issues ahead of the Celtics' playoff run.
Kristaps Porzingis is doing more than just protecting the paint, he’s also helping his teammates prepare mentally and physically for the grind of the NBA playoffs.
As the Boston Celtics get ready to face the Orlando Magic in the first round on Saturday, Porzingis revealed that he’s been offering advice to Jaylen Brown, who’s managing a knee injury.
"We definitely talked about it. Just because of my history with some of the knee stuff that bothered me in the past," Porzingis said per Bobby Manning. "So we definitely talked, I gave him my point of view, what I thought could help him and he did the things necessary..."
"Not to go into too much detail, but some of the stuff that helped me and we have some similar stuff maybe. He has something going on maybe I know more or less what it is, so I just gave him my point of view," he added.
Brown, who’s expected to suit up for Game 1, has downplayed the injury, but Porzingis says the signs are promising. "He’s always saying that he feels good, but he actually looks good and that’s the most important."
Brown had a strong regular season, averaging 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists across 63 games. Porzingis, who dealt with his own knee troubles earlier in his career, chipped in with 19.5 points, 6.8 boards, and 2.1 assists per game.
