Hapoel Tel Aviv is in discussions with the New York Knicks about playing a friendly game in the summer of 2025.
Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv is reportedly in discussions with the New York Knicks about playing a friendly game in the summer of 2025.
The news comes from a report by israelhayom.co.il, which states that the team, led by coach Dimitris Itoudis, has been in communication with the NBA franchise to organize a special exhibition matchup.
Hapoel has made waves in European basketball recently and has set a major goal of qualifying for the EuroLeague. They are also in talks with Vasilije Micic, as we wrote before.
Both Hapoel and the Knicks are expected to have representatives meet in the coming weeks to work out the final details of the event. If the talks are successful, the game will take place at Madison Square Garden.
Other teams that could potentially face Hapoel Tel Aviv if the tour goes ahead include the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In the Israeli league, Hapoel shares the first place with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv. Both teams have a record of 15-3.
The Knicks, with a record of 40-20, are third in the Eastern Conference.
