Kyrie Irving suffered a left knee sprain in the first quarter of the Mavericks' loss to the Sacramento Kings. Head coach Jason Kidd said the injury was unlucky.
The Dallas Mavericks had a tough night on Monday, falling 122-98 to the Sacramento Kings. But the loss wasn’t the only bad news for the team, both Kyrie Irving and Jaden Hardy went down with injuries.
Irving left in the first quarter after suffering a left knee sprain and did not return. Later in the third quarter, Hardy rolled his ankle and had to exit the game as well.
After the game, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd spoke about the injuries and the team’s tough luck this season, saying Kyrie's injury was unlucky.
"Just unlucky," Kidd said. "Hope that he's healthy, it's not serious, but just the injuries that we've had this season. Guys are trying to hold it together."
"It just seems every time we're close to getting someone back, someone goes down. Tonight, both Hardy and Kai go down. We're running out of bodies here, but guys keep fighting," he added.
Kyrie this season is a great leader for the Mavs, with averages of 25.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.
Dallas is currently 10th in the Western Conference, just behind the Minnesota Timberwolves.
