Heat legend Rony Seikaly, the previous record holder, was in attendance and even on the broadcast when Adebayo grabbed his 10th rebound late in the first half.

Seikaly, a former Heat, recorded an impressive 221 double-doubles during his time with the team. Adebayo now has 222, setting a new record.

Adebayo finished the game with 19 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. After the game, he shared how much the moment meant to him.

"Man, I’m so glad to get that record out the way," Adebayo said. "I’ve been trying to break that record for the past three games, but the rebounds just wouldn’t fall my way. It was special because [Seikaly] was here and on the broadcast when I did it."

"It's a special moment for me and my family, man. Just when I got here, I wanted to do this, to mark Miami's history whenever that would be. And be able to be franchise leader in something, blessed to have that.

The 27-year-old this season averages 17.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, shooting 48.7% from the field.
