Puerto Rico national team member Gian Clavell suffered significant health complications, narrowly avoiding a life-threatening situation.
Puerto Rico national team member Gian Clavell faced life-threatening health complications due to appendicitis, as revealed by his wife in an Instagram post.
The current Coviran Granada guard was admitted to the ICU early on February 26. According to his wife, Miriam Munoz, Clavell nearly past away from a febrile seizure caused by a severe infection that spread from his appendicitis. Thankfully, his condition is now stable.
"He underwent emergency surgery, which went very well, but the infection reached his blood, leading to his ICU admission, where everything is closely monitored and controlled," Munoz shared in her post.
This season, Clavell is averaging 9.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game for Granada in Spain's Liga Endesa.
