One of the pieces that could be interesting for contending teams is Ben Simmons. Unfortunately for the Nets, it's practically impossible to trade him because of his massive $40 million contract that is expiring this season. Even though he won't be traded, he could still end up switching teams this season.
According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, there has been some talk amongst teams that Ben Simmons will approach the Brooklyn Nets for a buyout to join a playoff-contending team.
The Nets were not interested in a buyout with Simmons earlier in the season. But it seems like this situation will come down to whether Simmons approaches the team about one, something that has yet to be discussed between the two parties.
Ben Simmons is averaging 6.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game. He appeared in 31 games this season out of 48.
