The San Antonio Spurs are among the teams involved in the De'Aaron Fox sweepstakes. As previously reported, the Spurs are one of Fox's preferred landing spots, which could motivate them to pursue a trade for the Sacramento Kings star.

Sacramento is actively exploring trade options for Fox, as the guard reportedly has no intention of staying with the team beyond next season when his contract expires in 2026. However, finding a deal that satisfies both sides won't be easy.

One major hurdle is the Spurs' stance on their rookie, Stephon Castle. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, San Antonio considers Castle "untouchable" in any potential trade. Windhorst’s sources indicate that the Spurs believe Castle could develop into a player of Fox’s caliber in a few years.

"If there was a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or Luka Doncic on the table, they might consider it. But I don’t know if De’Aaron Fox rises to that level," Windhorst noted.

Castle is averaging 11.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in his rookie season with the Spurs and is considered one of the top contenders for this year’s Rookie of the Year award.
