This is the second time Red Star have beaten Roca Team this season and the two teams now have an identical record of 13 wins and 9 losses.

"A great game, we gave it our all, I can't complain. We fought. When we took a seven-point lead, we could have reacted better.

But this is basketball, the second game of a double week. After the defeat against Bayern, we lost here by a single defensive play. We move on, that's how it is," said the Greek coach.

Spanoulis was asked about his relationship with Ioannis Sfairopoulos, coach of Red Star, who recently extended his contract with the Serbian club until 2027. Sfairopoulos coached Spanoulis at Olympiacos Piraeus from 2014 through 2018, when he stepped down and David Blatt took over the Reds.

"We are friends and I will always be grateful to him because he helped me in my career," the EuroLeague legend acknowledged.

"We worked extremely well together. I wish him the best and I want to congratulate him on the new contract he signed," he added.

Spanoulis was also asked to comment on the atmosphere in the Belgrade Arena.

“It’s a fantastic atmosphere," he said.

"I love playing in such an environment. Players like it when the arena is full; sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Rest assured, one day we will be on the winning side,” he concluded.

Next week, Monaco will make a third trip in a row, this time to Bologna for EuroLeague Round 23.
