Luca Vildoza is soon to become a free agent, after playing one year with Panathinaikos. According to SDNA, Olympiacos are the favorites for the player's signature.
Luca Vildoza's stint with Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens is destined to be short-lived, as the Argentinian guard and the EuroLeague champs are expected to part ways soon.
The 28-year-old player, who had signed a three-year contract with the Greens last summer, helped them win the EuroLeague and the Greek league title. However, Vildoza never won the trust of coach Ergin Ataman and is set to leave the team.
According to SDNA's Giorgos Zakkas, Vildoza might not stay a free agent for long after receiving his buyout from his current team.
Olympiacos Piraeus appear as the frontrunner to sign the international player and add him to a backcourt lineup already comprising the likes of Thomas Walkup, Nigel Williams-Goss, Giannoulis Larentzakis, Tyler Dorsey and shortly Keenan Evans, who has agreed to a 2+1 deal with the Reds.
In the 2023-24 season, the 28-year-old averaged 5.7 points (42% 2-point and 37% 3-point shooting, 76% on free throws), 1.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 4.5 in PIR per 14:56 in 28 EuroLeague games. In the Greek Basket League, he averaged 6.3 points, 3.0 assists and 1.4 rebounds per contest.
Within the next few hours, Vildoza will be released by Panathinaikos as the compromise between the two sides has been reached.
