Vezenkov said that the team still thinks about the lost chance at the EuroLeague title but admits that it's basketball and that's how things sometimes go. He will join the Kings if he sees that it's best for his future and the organization makes an offer.

Olympiacos Piraeus had a dominant regular season, they also had arguably the best player in the EuroLeague. However, it didn't end up in an international trophy after Real Madrid pulled off a comeback in the final.

Although Sasha Vezenkov was initially sad with the ending, he now admits that the entire Olympiacos season in the EuroLeague should be celebrated.

"If they had told us at the beginning of the season that we would take three titles in Greece and play in the EuroLeague final, everyone would have been happy," he told Bulgarian television BNT. "Yes, everyone is thinking about the game with Real Madrid at the moment because we were very close to winning it but that's sport and we have to keep fighting."

"I don't hide my emotions. When all these 8-9 months pass when you've been working toward it, and you see how the trophy is gone in two minutes... However, this is basketball and anything can happen. Almost the same thing happened last year. Basketball is like life - it gives you something, it takes something away from you," Vezenkov explained. "As I said, there are things that are much more important than that."

The Bulgarian forward got recognized as the MVP of the EuroLeague season, a first in his career. He was the first Olympiacos player to receive such an award since Vassilis Spanoulis did it 10 years ago.

"There's a lot of work and effort behind each award. However, this is not the most important thing. The most important thing is that the team finished first in the regular season and went to the Final Four again. Without that, all the individual awards could not have come," Vezenkov said. "I practice during the summer and during the year, and I think that progress is already visible. I want to become better with each passing day. I still have a lot ahead of me."

Vezenkov's future is most likely tied with the NBA and the Sacramento Kings organization. The Olympiacos leader's rights belong to the Beam Team, and they're reportedly willing to bring the forward to the US.

Asked about it, Sasha wasn't ready to fully commit to it.

"I'm only thinking about how to become the champions of Greece and what will be the right decision for me at this moment," he said. "Nobody knows what will happen in a few years, so I will decide how to continue when the time comes."

"I feel very good when specialists and coaches say nice words [about me] but I know it's a business and it's all about how, what, and when. We agreed that it would be fairest to finish the EuroLeague season and then talk. We'll see if they have a specific offer," Vezenkov continued. "I'm ready for new challenges but, as I've said before, Athens and Olympiacos are my home and I feel great. For me, the most important thing is what's best for my future."
