The Boston Celtics seemed to be heading toward a disastrous outcome after blowing out a 10-point lead with less than five minutes left, but a remarkable performance by Derrick White has put them just one game away from a historic achievement.

In an astonishing turn of events, White's decisive tip-in of Marcus Smart's missed 3-pointer with only 0.1 seconds remaining resulted in a stunning 104-103 triumph over the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday evening.

Boston became just the fourth team in NBA history to get to a Game 7 after trailing 3-0 in a playoff series.

"There really was nobody on me. Ball came to me, made the shot. We're just happy we won. However, we got to get it done, we got it done," game hero Derrick White reacted to his game-winner.

His teammates were in awe.

"If you don't know who D-White is, you know who he is now. That dude has been phenomenal for this whole, whole year," Marcus Smart said.

"Derrick White like a flash of lightning just came out of nowhere and saved the day. It's just an incredible play," Jaylen Brown added.

Jayson Tatum could not believe what happened.

"Oh my god. That was incredible. ... That felt like the longest 10 seconds ever, waiting for confirmation if [Derrick White] made it or not. I'm still in disbelief. That s**t was crazy," Tatum commented on the last play.

"At the end of the games like that, our guys talk about just crashing at the end of the game, get another chance and [Derrick] White made a great play," head coach Joe Mazzulla said.

The Celtics now stand on the cusp of history. If they manage to secure a victory in Game 7 against the Heat at TD Garden on Monday night, they will become the first team in NBA history to win a series after trailing 3-0.

"We feel like we've been to hell and back," Jaylen Brown described the roller coaster ride in Eastern Conference Finals.

"I've never been so excited to go back to Boston in my life," Tatum added.
