In the first semifinals matchup of AfroBasket 2021, Tunisia defeated Cape Verde 75-65 (16-14, 23-15, 20-15, 16-18). Real Madrid's Walter Tavares had 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks but it wasn't enough to advance his team to the tournament final.

The defending champions Tunisia led for most of the game, increasing their lead through the first three quarters. They will face the winners of the Cote d'Ivoire and Senegal matchup in the AfroBasket final on Sunday.

Makram Ben Romdhane led Tunisia with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Roll added 14 points and 9 assists, while Salah Mejri and Omar Abada each had 14 points.
