The Los Angeles Lakers have signed Rob Pelinka to a contract extension, elevating his title to president of basketball operations in addition to general manager, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
With Pelinka and head coach JJ Redick both signed long-term, the LA Lakers have secured stability at the top of their organization.
Pelinka hired Redick as head coach last offseason and pulled off the major acquisition of Luka Doncic in February.
The Lakers are now positioned with a face of the franchise for the next decade, along with flexibility and assets heading into the offseason, and a strong sense of organizational alignment.
Pelinka has been part of the Lakers organization since 2017.
