Former Phoenix Suns head coach reportedly insulted current Charlotte Hornets center Jusuf Nurkic during his time with the Suns, allegedly calling him a bad teammate.
The Phoenix Suns have fired head coach Mike Budenholzer after an underwhelming and disappointing lone season with the team.
Following his dismissal, several reports have emerged shedding light on his turbulent tenure in Phoenix, including allegations of a strained relationship with former Suns center Jusuf Nurkic.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Budenholzer reportedly told Nurkic he was a "bad teammate" and accused him of 'refusing to set quality screens."
"He took that as mad disrespect," Haynes noted. "He prided himself on setting quality screens."
Nurkic, during the season, confirmed he had no relationship with Budenholzer, and their reported clash likely contributed to his eventual benching and subsequent trade to the Charlotte Hornets.
Despite the reports, Budenholzer remains an attractive option for teams seeking a new available head coach.
