Luka Doncic has noticeably lost weight, with a new fire lit under him, fueling his improved performance since the trade to the Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Luka Doncic are already looking ahead to their first-round playoff matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves after finishing the season with a 50-32 record as the No. 3 seed.
Doncic's regular season was full of ups and downs, especially after the blockbuster trade in early February.
However, according to beat writer Jovan Buha of The Athletic, Luka has settled in more comfortably in Los Angeles and has shown improvement in his habits and weight management since the trade.
"It looks like he's lost some weight," Buha noted on his latest podcast. "Certainly, there's been the fire lit. I can say that from talking to people around him throughout the past couple of months and even some of the comments he's talked about.
"Of course, when you have a [trade] situation like this, there's a certain level of shock and sadness, and I think we've seen that from Luka, but this is a dude who is petty; he has beef with half the league, and he has beef with the Timberwolves.
"Yes, he certainly has a fire lit under him, and I think long term, this is going to be an amazing thing for his career," Buha went on to say.
Since joining the Lakers, the Slovenian star has been averaging 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game over 28 starts.
His first playoff game as a Laker will be held at Crypto.com Arena on either April 19 or 20.
