Devin Booker expressed frustration over the Suns' struggles this season, despite their talent. Reflecting on their 2021 Finals appearance, Booker emphasized that talent alone isn't enough for success.
Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker expressed his growing frustrations as the team faces a challenging season, despite having a roster loaded with talent.
After a disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, who were without LeBron James, Booker was surrounded by reporters asking why the Suns, despite having a star-studded roster, couldn’t seem to put it all together.
Booker’s response highlighted the internal frustration as the Suns' struggles continued after a tough February, in which they went 3-10.
"Very frustrating," Booker told FOX Sports. "We celebrated the Western Conference Finals right here. I was standing in the same spot."
He acknowledged the obvious talent the team possesses but explained that talent alone isn't enough to guarantee success in the league.
"Talent only gets you so far," Booker said. "I've been on teams with less talent that found ways to get more wins. It's just the little things. What people always say, the details of the game. Although it sounds like we should know that at this part of our careers, it's just something you need to form and develop and learn through trial and error."
Despite the challenges, Booker remains hopeful. "We were at the bottom of the league. So, it’s something that I’ve seen can turn around. I’ve seen it be fixed before. So, that’s the motivation. Just do that again."
The Suns with a record of 34-37 sit at 10th in the Western Conference. Their next game is against the Milwaukee Bucks on March 25th.
Phoenix reached the NBA Finals in 2021 but have struggled to get past the second round in recent years, and this season has been no different.
