Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic's father, Sasa, believes Luka still has a long way to go to reach the legendary level of Croatian icon Drazen Petrovic.
Luka Doncic is undeniably one of the biggest basketball superstars in the world today. The current Los Angeles Lakers star is already earning recognition as one of the greatest players ever, not only in Europe but globally.
However, his father, Sasa Doncic, in a recent interview with HRT, was asked whether his son has surpassed the legendary Drazen Petrovic. He humbly responded that Luka is not quite on that level yet and still has a long way to go to reach that kind of greatness.
"Drazen is Drazen. He is a legend. Luka is still far from that, but I believe he’s on the right path," Sasa Doncic said.
"I wouldn’t compare them; each one is among the best of their time. I’m just happy to see someone from Europe showing the world that great basketball was played and continues to be played here," he added.
Sasa Doncic also spoke about his son’s transition to the bright lights of Los Angeles, noting that Luka is slowly returning to his old self on the court.
"The turbulence is over. Everything has settled down, and Dallas is becoming a thing of the past. You can see that on the court when Luka steps out in a purple and gold uniform and starts playing with the same flair he had for years in the Mavericks jersey and the Slovenian national team," he said.
