Initially, Brunson was projected to miss about two weeks, but his absence is now expected to extend to 3-4 weeks.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury on March 6 in a 113-109 overtime loss against the Los Angeles Lakers.
With 1:24 left in OT, he drove to the basket and stepped on Austin Reaves' foot, rolling his ankle significantly in the process. Reaves was called for a foul, and a video review confirmed the injury.
Injury episode:
Despite being in clear pain, Brunson stayed in the game to shoot his free throws before limping to the locker room. He finished 39 points and 10 assists in 41 minutes.
After the game, former Dallas Mavericks teammate Luka Doncic asked, "Where's Jalen?" -- but by then, Brunson was already in the Knicks' locker room.
For the season, Brunson is averaging 26.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game.
The Knicks are currently at a 42-24 record, holding the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
