The Latvian center, who has been sidelined since February 27 due to a viral illness, was also unavailable for the Celtics' February 25 game against the Toronto Raptors because of a non-COVID-related illness. Porzingis revealed earlier this week that he had been dealing with an unidentified viral infection.
Despite Porzingis' absence, the Celtics performed admirably, posting a 6-2 record over the eight games without their starting center. In 32 games this season, the big man is averaging 18.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. He had previously missed the first 17 games of the season after undergoing ankle surgery in June.
In addition to Porzingis' return, Jaylen Brown is also set to make his comeback after missing Boston’s 103-91 win over the Miami Heat due to a knee injury. However, the Celtics will still be without Al Horford (toe sprain) and Derrick White (knee contusion) for the Brooklyn game.
With a 48-19 record, the Celtics currently sit second in the Eastern Conference and are looking to strengthen their playoff position.
