The San Antonio Spurs are expected to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves' standout defender Jaden McDaniels during the upcoming offseason.
The San Antonio Spurs are expected to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves' forward Jaden McDaniels this offseason to further enhance their defensive prowess, according to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report.
"The Spurs could also look to invest in a young player with long-term potential, even if he may not become a star," Buckley wrote. "While McDaniels may not have the most diverse offensive game, his defensive versatility and ability to knock down spot-up shots should make him a seamless fit."
McDaniels is under contract with the Timberwolves for $131 million through the 2028/29 NBA season. This potential trade would make sense for both sides, as the Spurs would gain a strong defender to continue building upon their defensive foundation.
For the Timberwolves, moving McDaniels would significantly reduce their payroll, but they wouldn’t part with him lightly. McDaniels is widely regarded as one of the top defenders in the league, and his value to the team is high.
Jaden McDaniels is currently averaging 12.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 59 games this season, solidifying his role as a key player on both ends of the floor for the Timberwolves.
