A highly anticipated matchup saw Luka Doncic face off against the team that traded him, the Dallas Mavericks. In the end, Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers secured a 107-99 victory.
Despite struggling with his shot, Doncic recorded a triple-double, finishing with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists. He shot just 6-of-17 from the field (35.3%) and 1-of-7 from beyond the arc (14.3%).
During the postgame interview on NBA on TNT, Doncic admitted that facing his former team felt surreal and he couldn't understand what was going on.
"I don't know how to explain it," Doncic revealed how he felt facing the Mavs. "I think in first quarter, second quarter, I didn't know what was happening, it was just different. I can't even explain."
Luka said he was hyped before the game and he wanted to make a statement in this one, but the shots just didn't went in.
"I was hyped, you know how it is, but I couldn't make nothing today, I'm just glad we got a win," Luka noted.
When asked how he feels now the game's over, Luka said he feels great and he can't wait to go to sleep.
"Great man, I can't wait to go to sleep honestly," Doncic said.
With this win, the Lakers are now 35-21 in the Western Conference, sitting fourth behind the Denver Nuggets.
