Chris Paul has added another historic milestone to his legendary career. In his 20th NBA season, the San Antonio Spurs guard recorded his 2,685th career steal on Thursday night, officially surpassing Jason Kidd for second place on the NBA’s all-time steals list.

Paul’s record-breaking steal came during a game against the Phoenix Suns when he intercepted a pass from Devin Booker intended for Bradley Beal. Wasting no time, Paul quickly moved the ball across the court to teammate Stephon Castle.

With this feat, Paul now trails only John Stockton, who holds the all-time record with 3,265 steals, a mark that will be extremely difficult to surpass at this stage in Paul’s career.

However, the achievement cements his place as one of the greatest defensive guards in league history.

Paul has been a menace on defense throughout his career, with his best season in steals coming in 2007-08 when he racked up 217. This year, he has already recorded 71 steals, surpassing his total from last season with the Golden State Warriors.

The next active player on the all-time steals list is LeBron James, who currently ranks sixth with 2,318 steals.
