As New York's Karl-Anthony Towns was driving to the basket against Jakob Poeltl in the third quarter, Barnes was contesting the shot from behind. A foul was called on Barnes during the contest. As the two players, Towns and Barnes, landed on the floor, Barnes' foot landed on Towns' ankle.
The Raptors forward immediately collapsed to the ground, holding his right ankle. While he was being checked by the Raptors medical team, Barnes apparently said, 'I can't feel my foot.'
According to Blake Murphy from Sportsnet, Barnes was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain, while his X-rays were negative. The player will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.
Earlier this season, Barnes missed 11 games due to an orbital fracture.
In his 4th year in the NBA, Barnes has been averaging 20.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
