Earlier reports indicated Leonard would sit out the entire preseason due to this knee issue. The Clippers are scheduled to open their season on October 23 against the Phoenix Suns.

Leonard, 33, appeared in 52 regular-season games (starting 50) during the 2022-23 season and played in 68 games (all starts) last season. Throughout his career, he has faced recurring knee problems.

For example, Leonard played only in Games 2 and 3 of the Clippers' six-game loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of last season's Western Conference playoffs due to ongoing issues with his right knee. He also withdrew from Team USA ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Over his NBA career, Leonard averages 20.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
