Kevin Durant is expected to delay signing a one-year, $59.5 million extension with the Phoenix Suns, opting to wait until 2025 when he could secure a more lucrative two-year, $123.8 million deal.
Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant has been eligible to sign a one-year, $59.5 million extension since early July. However, it's likely he'll wait until the 2025 offseason, when he can sign a two-year, $123.8 million extension with Phoenix, as reported by ESPN's Bobby Marks.
By holding off, Durant stands to earn an additional $64.3 million.
Durant recently added to his legacy by winning gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, surpassing Carmelo Anthony to become the most decorated male basketball player in Olympic history with his fourth gold medal. He is also the all-time leading scorer for U.S. Olympic teams.
In addition to his Olympic success, Durant's resume includes being a FIBA World Champion (2010), a two-time NBA champion (2017, 2018), NBA MVP (2014), and a 14-time NBA All-Star (2010–2019, 2021–2024).
Last season, KD averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists over 75 starts.
