Jayson Tatum didn't play a single second in the Paris Olympics against Serbia, and Dwight Howard encouraged the Celtics superstar to transfer his talents to Taiwan.
Despite being one of the leaders of NBA champions Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum did not play a single second of basketball in the first Team USA game against Serbia in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on Sunday.
It sparked a series of reactions online, with most of them making fun of Tatum. One such reaction was by former Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard, who now plays for the Taiwan Mustangs in The Asian Tournament.
"Jayson, we could use another champ in my league. You could hoop like this if you came," Howard wrote, attaching a link to a YouTube video of his recent game.
Howard last played in the NBA in 2022. Since then, he has played for multiple teams in Taiwan. Howard played in Puerto Rico this spring, he also joined a Filipino team in January of 2024.
Howard plays together with another former NBA All-Star, DeMarcus Cousins, who also represents the Mustangs. Former Golden State Warriors guard Quinn Cook is also on the roster.
Team USA's head coach, Steve Kerr, explained Tatum's lack of playing time as his decision and promised he would play in the second game of the group stage against South Sudan on Wednesday.
