According to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN, the Italian forward signed a new two-year $16 million deal with the Pistons.
Fontecchio averaged a solid 15.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game on 47.9% from the field for the Pistons in 15 games in the last season before getting sidelined with an injury.
The 28-year-old forward got injured in mid-March with a toe contusion. Ultimately, it required surgery and the player was forced to miss multiple months of action, missing the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for the Italian national team as well.
"Initially we thought it was only a bruise, but the foot injury has been more complex than originally anticipated," Fontecchio told Il Corriere dello Sport back in May. "I'm still dealing with it. Now I'm trying to solve the problem as soon as possible."
