Ricky Rubio has opted out of Spain's Olympic Qualifying Tournament and confirmed he won't participate in the Paris Olympics if Spain qualifies, prioritizing his personal well-being over competing while not at 100%.

"My sports career depended on this summer, determining whether I would continue or not. It would have been selfish to join the national team without being at 100%. In that moment, I had to prioritize myself," Rubio explained his decision to skip the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
According to Arnau Fort, Rubio has also confirmed that he will not participate in the Paris Olympics even if Spain wins the competition in Valencia.
The 33-year-old last played with the Spanish national team in February during the 2025 EuroBasket Qualifiers against Latvia and Belgium.
He also returned to the EuroLeague with FC Barcelona, where he averaged 4.7 points and 4.3 assists over 13 games, including 3 starts.
