Kristaps Porzingis missed Game 3 of the NBA Finals after sustaining an ankle injury and has played in just four of the Boston Celtics' total playoff games. Porzingis picked up the injury with 3:27 remaining in the third quarter of Game 2 against the Dallas Mavericks, and it appeared as though he tweaked his right calf after fighting for a rebound with PJ Washington.

The team first announced Tuesday afternoon that Porzingis has a "torn medial retinaculum, allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon" in his left leg. While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said Porzinigis is dealing with a "serious injury."

Yet, he could return for Game 4 on Friday in Dallas, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania

"There is a chance Kristaps Porzingis plays in Game 4," Charania said on FanDuel TV’s 'Run It Back' on Thursday.

"He did work out, and he’s expected to do more today, do more Friday. If his movements are the way the Celtics medical staff want them to be, he does have a chance to play potentially in Game 4. You know he wants to be out there. It’s something he’s been working for all season, to be out there in a potential elimination game. It’s something Kristaps Porzingis badly wants."

The Celtics have a chance to sweep the Mavericks as they aim for the 10th series sweep in NBA Finals history.
