The Serbian big man, whose contract with Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade expires on June 30, has reportedly received a first offer from the Spanish club. His current team has no intention of keeping him after 3 seasons with many ups and downs.

Smailagic has averaged 5.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15 minutes of play in EuroLeague action this past season. Smailagic will turn 24 in August and, without contractual ties, he stands as an attractive piece to strengthen Baskonia's inside game.

With 29 NBA games under his belt, he returned to Serbia in the summer of 2021 after spending three years in the top league and one season in the Serbian third division that helped him make the jump to the Golden State Warriors.

The arrival of point guard Kamar Baldwin and swingman Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot have bolstered Baskonia's backcourt. However, they still need need to strenghthen their frontcourt lineup, since Matt Costello is set to leave, while Maik Kotsar and Chima Moneke are facing an uncertain future.
