Los Angeles Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell intends to become a free agent at the end of this season.
D'Angelo Russell, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, is aiming to become a free agent after the end of this season.
According to Jake Weinbach, the point guard will decline his player option and become an unrestricted free agent once this season ends.
Russell's player option is valued at $18.6 million.
Weinbach notes that the guard will be looking for a "long-term, lucrative deal" after parting ways with the Lakers.
He was linked to the Orlando Magic in a report that came out in late March.
D'Angelo Russell averaged 18 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.3 assists this season. The Lakers were eliminated 4-1 by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
