The president explained to TRT Spor that, for the time being, they would not spend money to try to get Besiktas into the EuroLeague, even though this was what he had promised during his candidacy.

Instead, the extra funds will be allocated to the club's football team, which faltered this year. Currently, the team is ranked 5th in the Turkish Super League after changing its head coach four times in the span of just one season.

In spite of the news, Besiktas will continue in the EuroCup. Arat stated that coach Dusan Alimpijevic's contract will be extended, while the team will have the same budget as this year.

Under Alimpijevic, who signed a contract in the summer of 2023, Besiktas made it to the EuroCup semifinals and finished the regular season in 3rd place, an immense improvement from last year when they almost were relegated to the second division.
