Tristan Vukcevic's next destination seems to have been determined if the Serbian big man doesn't make the final cut on the Washington Wizards' roster.
Tristan Vukcevic was selected with the 42nd pick in the NBA draft, and he immediately took the interest of the Washington Wizards very seriously.
The 20-year-old prospect had an excellent stint in the 2023 Las Vegas Summer League, as he tried to earn a roster spot for next season.
After resting in Friday night's win over the Thunder, he was a central part of the Wizards' offense against Chicago (a 90-85 loss) on Saturday evening, as he took 13 shots en route to 15 points, eight rebounds and an assist. His rebounding was a highlight of the Wizards' Summer League.
Vukcevic shot in volume, but not with efficiency as he knocked down just 4/13 from the field and 2/8 from three. The talent is definitely there, but more experience is needed in order for the Wizards to count on him as a serious option.
Overall, Vukcevic averaged 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block, while shooting 38.5% FG and 23.5% 3P over four games in Las Vegas.
In case the Serbian talent doesn't get an NBA contract, he will return to Europe, where Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade own his rights. Given the EuroLeague team's stacked roster, it won't be a surprise if the club sends him on loan. According to Live Sport's Sotiris Vetakis, that is bound to happen, as the 2.13 m. big man will be loaned out to Peristeri.
The team coached by Vassilis Spanoulis has reportedly made the moves to add the player to its roster. That particular choice of club serves all intents and purposes, as Vukcevic's father, Dusan, is an assistant coach at Peristeri, while his brother (born in 2008) is playing with the youth team. Furthermore, Vukcevic holds a Swedish passport through his mother and both the Serbian and the Greek passport through his father, which means he will be eligible to play as a domestic player in Greece.
However, as his father has stated, he will be playing with the Serbian national team.
The Vukcevic family moved to Greece following Dusan's retirement in 2012. Tristan started to play basketball for youth system of his father's former club Olympiacos. In 2018, he joined the U16 team of Real Madrid, before moving to Partizan in 2022.
If Tristan ends up making an NBA roster after all, Partizan and Real Madrid will receive a buyout.
