Georgios Papagiannis was announced by Fenerbahce on a two-year deal.
Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul have reached a two-year agreement with Greek center Georgios Papagiannis, the Turkish club announced.
The big man started playing basketball with the Peristeri jersey. Papagiannis, who played for the A Team for the first time in the 2011-2012 season with Peristeri, left this team in 2013. He transferred to Panathinaikos Athens in the summer of 2014, he played for this team in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.
In the summer of 2016, Papagiannis was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 13th pick in the 1st round of the NBA Draft, becoming the top pick in the history of Greece. He was then traded to the Sacramento Kings after the NBA draft.
Georgios Papagiannis spent the 2016-17 season with the Sacramento Kings and the G-League team Reno Bighorns. Starting the 2017-18 season with the Sacramento Kings, Papagiannis moved to the Portland Trail Blazers in March.
Returning to the EuroLeague in the summer of 2018 with Panathinaikos jersey, Papagiannis played for the Greens between 2018-2023, where he had his career-best season in 2021-22. Averaging 10.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, and 17.4 PIR, he led the EuroLeague in blocks and rebounds, and was named to the league's All-Seond Team.
Papagiannis averaged 8.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 11.4 PIR in the EuroLeague last season, in addition to being PAO's captain.
Per Sport24.gr and Alexandros Trigkas, the 25-year-old big man's earnings will reach 3.5 million euros for his two seasons in Turkey, including some bonuses for achieving individual and team goals.
Panathinaikos had offered the player 1.3 million for the first year of contract and 1.7 million euro for the second.
