Mateusz Ponitka won't have another season with Panathinaikos, as the Greens decided not to renew his contract.
After Paris Lee, Nate Wolters, Derrick Williams and Arturas Gudaitis, another player has left Panathinaikos Athens, as the Greek side is continuing to clear up their roster ahead of next season.
Mateusz Ponitka, 29, after one season with the Greens, is now a free agent. PAO thanked the Polish guard/forward for his contribution to the team, via a post on social media.
Ponitka had been one of Panathinaikos' most consistent players, averaging 8.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists in the EuroLeague. In the Greek Basket League regular season, he had 9.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
As of July 5, Marius Grigonis and Matt Thomas are the only non-Greek players left on the squad. However, and despite Grigonis having a contract for next years as well, they're both likely to depart.
