After unsuccessful negotiations with Kevin Punter, Dorsey is the primary target for the shooting guard slot on the Panathinaikos roster. The player still has two years remaining in his contract with Fenerbahce but a possibility of a buyout exists.
Panathinaikos Athens gave a lucrative offer to Kevin Punter but the shooting guard chose another team. Now the team's focus will turn toward another player.
Punter reportedly chose FC Barcelona despite a deal proposal of a comparable salary from the Greeks. According to Georgios Kouvaris from Gazzetta.gr, Panathinaikos will now focus on acquiring Tyler Dorsey.
The possible addition of Dorsey will have its hurdles as the player still has two years left in his contract with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. However, it is possible that a buyout will be negotiated.
A former player of Olympiacos Piraeus, Dorsey arrived in Turkey in the middle of the season after a stint in the NBA and its G-League. In 13 games with the team in the EuroLeague, he averaged 9.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists for 6.1 PIR.
Panathinaikos are about to have a complete retool of the roster as all foreign players from the last season's squad are expected to leave the organization, Kouvaris also reports.
Since the arrival of Ergin Ataman, Panathinaikos have already officially signed deals with three players - Luca Vildoza, Kostas Antetokounmpo, and Dimitris Moraitis.
