Zvezdan Mitrovic has signed a deal to lead Galatasaray until the end of the 2023-24 season.
After parting ways with head coach Andreas Pistiolis, the Galatasaray NEF Istanbul organization has found its next leader.
The Turkish club has officially announced that Zvezdan Mitrovic will be taking over the role until the end of the 2023-24 season.
Most recently, Mitrovic coached AS Monaco. After previously guiding the team to a EuroCup title, he was let go in November 2021. He has also received compensation for unlawful dismissal from LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in years prior to his stint in Monaco.
Interestingly, Pistiolis was given a contract extension just last November, which should have run until 2025, but didn't manage to meet the expectations.
The club was eliminated in the round of the Top 16 in the Basketball Champions League. On top of that, Galatasaray are currently just 12th in the Turkish Basketball League (BSL) with 12 wins and 15 losses.
There are two games remaining in the schedule for Galatasaray, giving them a chance to still get to the BSL playoffs.
