In the statement made by the Turkish club, it was stated that the new contract of the Greek head coach is valid until 2025.

Having been a basketball coach since 2005, 44-year-old Pistiolis joined Galatasaray last season after working as an assistant at Panathinaikos, Banvit and CSKA Moscow. The Greek coach took over the Turkish club in the middle of the previous season, replacing Ekrem Memnun, showing that he was up for the task.

He led Galatasaray to the playoff semi-finals, where they were eliminated by Anadolu Efes.

Galatasaray will face Fenerbahce Beko in the 8th week of the Turkish Super League on Sunday, November 27 at Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.

Most recently, the 2016 EuroCup winners beat Tofas Bursa and Bursaspor on the domestic front, while climbing up to the top of their Champions League group by beating Hapoel Holon 88-75.
