Iffe Lundberg has become the second Danish player in NBA history. The 27-year-old guard signed a deal with the Phoenix Suns, as BasketNews' Donatas Urbonas had reported on Saturday morning.

Position: PG, SG
Age: 27
Height: 193 cm
Weight: 92 kg
Birth place: Copenhagen, Denmark

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN added that the Suns are signing Lundberg until the end of the season.

27-year-old Lundberg established his name for First Copenhagen Wolfpack and then Horsens, before he went to Spain in 2017, where he played for Manresa (2017-19) and Lenovo Tenerife (2019-20). The tour went on to Poland and Zielona Gora, before he moved to Russia and CSKA Moscow in February 2020.

Lundberg averaged 9.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 8 PIR over 24 EuroLeague games for CSKA this season. Last summer, he penned a three-year (2+1) extension with the Russian club.

According to Eurohoops.net, he paid for his own contract buyout and parted ways with the team on Friday.

Last summer, he was already on NBA radars before CSKA convinced him to stay in Moscow on a lucrative multi-year deal.

Lundberg's dream was to become the first Dane in the NBA. But actually, Lars Hansen was the first Denmark-born player who made it to the best league in the world.

He signed with Seattle SuperSonics in 1978-79, where he averaged 5.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 15 games.

However, Hansen moved to Canada at the age of two. In 2006 he was inducted into the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame.

Christian Drejer was drafted by The New Jersey Nets in 2004, but he never played for them.
