Amar'e Stoudemire is leaving his player development assistant post with the Brooklyn Nets and said the franchise needs to take a harder stance against star guard Kyrie Irving, via ESPN.
Irving was limited to road games for the majority of the season because of his view on the COVID-19 vaccination and the City of New York policy that kept him off the court for games in Brooklyn. He played 29 regular-season games in 2021-22.
A seven-time All-Star guard, Irving averaged 27.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.4 rebounds this campaign. He scored a career-high 60 points in a 150-108 win against the Magic in Orlando on March 15.
"It definitely hurt us because we didn't have consistency enough with Kyrie to build chemistry with the group, with the team. He's playing only away games depending on which city it is, can't play in New York, therefore we had different lineups and different matchups depending on the game schedule.
So, it made it difficult for us, coaches, to figure out who's going to play in spite of Kyrie. It was difficult to manage that so yeah, it was part of that," Stoudemire spoke on ESPN's morning talk shows.

Philadelphia 76ers forward Danny Green sustained a torn left ACL during Thursday's season-ending loss to the Miami Heat, The Athletic reported Friday.
Green, who turns 35 next month, had to be carried to the locker room after a first-quarter collision with teammate Joel Embiid.
Green finished with three points and one steal in three minutes. Philadelphia lost the game, 99-90, and the series, 4-2, as top-seeded Miami advanced to the Eastern Conference finals.
Green averaged 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 21.8 minutes in 62 games (28 starts) in 2021-22, his second season in Philadelphia and 13th season in the NBA.
The three-time NBA champion has career averages of 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 819 games (709 starts) for the Cleveland Cavaliers (2009-10), San Antonio Spurs (2010-18), Toronto Raptors (2018-19), Los Angeles Lakers (2019-20) and the 76ers. He is a 39.9-percent shooter from 3-point range for his career.
Green signed a two-year, $20 million contract with the Sixers in May 2021. The second season of that contract in 2022-23 is non-guaranteed.

After the loss to the Miami Heat last night, The Philadelphia 76ers were eliminated from the Eastern Conference semifinals for the fourth time in five years.
After acquiring James Harden at the trade deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers hoped this would finally be the year they break through and make it into the conference finals and beyond in the NBA playoffs.
Alhough, Harden was a non-factor in the Game 6 against Miami, taking just nine shots, including two in the second half, and scoring 11 points.
Another 76ers superstar Joel Embiid gave his own explanation about The Beard‘s performance being very straightfoward.
"Since we got him, everybody expected the Houston James Harden," Embiid said. "But that's not who he is anymore. He's more of a playmaker. I thought, at times, he could have been, as all of us could have been, more aggressive. All of us whether it was Tyrese Maxey or Tobias Harris or guys coming off the bench.
Though, Embiid didn‘t want to blame nor Harden, nor any other player for the loss in Eastern semifinals.
"Everybody's got to get better," Embiid said. "It's not just not just about me or Harden. From 1 through 15, there's a reason why we lost to Miami. That means we all were not good enough. So everybody just has to be better."
Harden averaged 19.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.6 assists in the series against the Heat.
However, with the exception of the Brooklyn Nets' series against the Milwaukee Bucks last season, where Harden played throughout the injuries, that was his worst series since 2012, the last in Oklahoma.

After suffering a series-deciding loss in Game 6 of the NBA Playoffs against the Miami Heat, the Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers was not happy with journalists questioning his place on the team.
Asked whether he worries about his job in Philly, Rivers became noticeably angry.
"I don't worry about my job. I do a terrific job and if you don't, then you should write it," he pushed back. "I worked my butt off to get this team here. When I first got here, no one picked us to be anywhere. Again, this year the same thing."
"If that's how anyone feels, write it, and I'm going to feel secure about it," he continued. "Every time you're wrong you lose your job? No, so it's the same thing, alright? Listen, if you believe that, then go with it."
"I know what I did this year, and I feel very good about that. Again, if you believe that, then you just run with it," Rivers raised his tone. "I just believe in our guys, that's my job as a coach."
Before things heated up, the coach talked about the playoffs and the struggle to win each year.
"The greatest thing about this is you keep trying to put your team back in these positions to win. That's what's so great about this," he said in the post-game press conference. "You don't lose and go home, you get to come back."
"That's the greatest part. A lot of people don't ever want to come back," the coach explained. "You put everything you have into it every year knowing that there's a chance, and probably a better chance, that you're not going to win it."
"You want to believe every year that you can, and every year that you don't, you get your heart broken, and it's worth it, it's absolutely worth it."

Jimmy Butler scored 32 points, Max Strus added 20 points and 11 rebounds and the top-seeded Miami Heat defeated the host Philadelphia 76ers 99-90 (28-25, 21-23, 25-15, 25-27) to capture the Eastern Conference semifinals in six games on Thursday.
P.J. Tucker contributed 12 points while Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro scored 10 apiece for the Heat, who will face either the Milwaukee Bucks or Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals.
The Heat, who played without Kyle Lowry (hamstring) for the second consecutive game, advanced to the conference finals for the second time in three seasons.
"We're not scared of nobody," Butler said postgame on ESPN. "Everybody has been prepared for this all year."
Joel Embiid, who was playing with an orbital fracture and a torn ligament in his right thumb, led the fourth-seeded Sixers with 20 points and 12 rebounds but struggled with his shooting, going 7 of 24.

While Nikola Jokic is set to be named MVP of the NBA for the second consecutive season, Joel Embiid left without anything again, despite garnering serious support from players, who have been vocal on social media.
Embiid led the NBA in scoring at 30.6 points per game and averaged 11.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 2021-22. That included a 41-point, 20-rebound game to wrap the regular season against the Indiana Pacers.
The Cameroonian big man, who is minded about obtaining the French nationality, shared some broader thoughts about the MVP voting process, talking to the US media.
"Obviously, congrats to Nikola, he deserved it. He had an amazing season. There's no right or wrong," said Embiid. "There were a lot of candidates. It could have gone either way. Giannis and Devin Booker being on the best team in the league by far, so I guess every year it's all about whatever you guys decided, whatever fits the narrative as far as who's going to win.
