Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey is expected to remain sidelined for the remainder of the 2024-2025 NBA season due to a finger tendon injury.

Maxey has been sidelined since March 3, attempting rehabilitation without sufficient improvement, leading to the decision for extended treatment.

This season, Maxey achieved career-high averages of 26.3 points and 6.1 assists per game, earning his first All-Star selection and the NBA's Most Improved Player award for the 2023-2024 season.

The 76ers have faced significant injury challenges, with key players like Joel Embiid and Paul George also out for the season. Currently holding a 23-53 record, Philadelphia is on track for its worst season since 2015-2016 and will miss the playoffs for the first time in eight years.

In Maxey's absence, the 76ers are likely to rely on guards Jared Butler, Quentin Grimes, and Lonnie Walker IV to fill the void in the backcourt.
