Bucks pessimistic about Khris Middleton's Game 7 return

Middleton, sidelined since April 20 with a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee, recently returned to practice.

The defending champion Bucks face the Celtics in Boston on Sunday with a trip to the Eastern Conference finals on the line.

Per ESPN, the team had been hopeful earlier this week about Middleton playing this weekend. However, those hopes had soured by Saturday.

"Even if the Bucks advance to the conference finals, there'd be pessimism he'd be ready to start," according to an ESPN NBA insider.

Middleton, 30, averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 66 starts during the regular season. The three-time All-Star forward averaged 14.5 points, 7.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in the first two games of Milwaukee's first-round series against the Chicago Bulls before sustaining the injury.

Tatum nets 46, Celtics defeat Bucks with dominant Giannis in front to force Game 7

2022-05-14

Jayson Tatum scored 10 of his game-high 46 points in a key fourth-quarter sequence and teammates Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart added key hoops as the Boston Celtics held off the host Milwaukee Bucks 108-95 (28-26, 25-17, 29-27, 26-25) on Friday night to force a Game 7 in their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series.

Brown finished with 22 points and Smart 21 for the second-seeded Celtics, who continued a trend in the series by winning for a second time on Milwaukee's home floor.

Game 7 will be held Sunday at Boston, where the Bucks have two earlier wins in three tries in the series.

After erasing a late 14-point deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven with a win at Boston on Wednesday, the third-seeded Bucks found themselves down 84-70 with 11:25 to go this time before mounting their comeback.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks' leading scorer with 44 points, had a three-point play, two free throws, and a 3-pointer in an 11-1 burst that cut the Milwaukee deficit to 85-81 with 8:42 remaining. But this time it was the Celtics who made the decisive late push.

2022-05-12

Bobby Portis turned a missed Giannis Antetokounmpo free throw into a go-ahead hoop, Jrue Holiday made two critical defensive plays in the final 8.1 seconds and the visiting Milwaukee Bucks rallied past the Boston Celtics 110-107 (28-26, 19-28, 30-32, 33-21) on Wednesday night for a 3-2 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series.

Antetokounmpo finished with a game-high 40 points, including a 3-pointer during Milwaukee's late comeback, to put the Bucks one win away from their third trip to the Eastern Conference finals in the past four seasons.

Game 6 of the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Friday night at Milwaukee.

Two Celtics fought over the rebound in a crowd, and when the ball deflected to Portis under the hoop, he converted a layup that gave the Bucks the lead for good.
