The Dallas Mavericks became just the fifth team in the last 25 years to miss the playoffs the season after reaching the NBA Finals.
The Dallas Mavericks have officially joined a rare and disappointing group in NBA history. After reaching the NBA Finals last season, the Mavericks became just the fifth team in the last 25 years to completely miss the playoffs the following year.
They now stand alongside the 2004-05 Los Angeles Lakers, 2014-15 Miami Heat, 2018-19 Cleveland Cavaliers, and 2019-20 Golden State Warriors.
Dallas finished the 2024-25 regular season with a 39-43 record, barely clinching a spot in the Play-In Tournament.
However, their season came to an end with a tough loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, who ran away with a 120-106 victory.
Despite a monster 40-point performance from Anthony Davis, who was playing through a leg injury, the Mavericks couldn’t overcome Memphis.
