Dalton Knecht, the Los Angeles Lakers rookie wing, credited veteran Markieff Morris for helping him stay focused and ready throughout his first season.
Dalton Knecht made a strong impact in the Los Angeles Lakers 124-108 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.
After a win, the young wing credited his veteran teammate, Markieff Morris, for helping him stay focused and ready throughout his rookie season.
"It's real simple. I got good vets like ‘Kieff to be there," Knecht said per ClutchPoints. "He’s been with a lot of rookies, even kind of a similar situation, he told me. Just always making sure you're ready when your name is called and go out there and just be you."
In the win against the Pelicans, Knecht scored 12 points. He went 5-of-10 from the field and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Lakers head coach JJ Redick praised Knecht's potential in the postseason following the game.
"We feel like he's a guy who can help us win a game in the playoffs. Maybe multiple games," the coach said, per Daniel Starkand.
Knecht averages 9.1 points, 2.8 assists, and 46.1% shooting from the field. He has also been effective from the three-point range, shooting 37% from beyond the arc, and converting 75% of his free throws.
