Chimezie Metu suffered an Achilles tendon tear vs. Bayern in EuroLeague Round 31.
FC Barcelona big man Chimezie Metu has suffered an Achilles tendon tear in his right leg in EuroLeague Round 31 home game against FC Bayern Munich, the Spanish club officially confirmed.
The incident occurred with 3:12 remaining in the third quarter, with Barca leading 71-68. In a non-contact situation, Metu attempted to inbound the ball to Tomas Satoransky when he injured his right foot.
He was in significant pain and lay on the floor for several minutes. Unable to put any weight on his right leg, he was helped off the court.
Barca also announced that the treatment method will be decided in the coming days.
Before the injury, Metu scored 11 points in just 11 minutes of play.
This season, the EuroLeague rookie has averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 11.8 PIR over 23 games.
