Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard sealed a 111-110 victory over the Sacramento Kings with a clutch game-winning shot. After the game, he expressed gratitude for the win but admitted he wasn’t pleased with the back-and-forth scoring between both teams down the stretch.
The Los Angeles Clippers secured a crucial overtime victory against the Sacramento Kings, edging them out 111-110 in a battle between playoff contenders.
James Harden led the way with 29 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists, while Ivica Zubac delivered a dominant double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds. But when it mattered most, it was Kawhi Leonard who stepped up, sinking the game-winning shot to seal the victory.
After the game, Leonard remained humble, emphasizing that the most important thing was getting the win.
"Just grateful we got the win. Happy the ball went in. That’s it, really," Leonard said post-game via Joey Linn.
He admitted he wasn’t entirely pleased with how the game unfolded, particularly with both teams trading baskets down the stretch, but credited his team for staying composed and pulling through.
"I didn’t enjoy it. I loved us scoring the basketball. But those are great players—DeMar getting to his spots, rising up, and knocking down his signature mid-range shots. Zach getting to the paint and hitting a big three," Leonard noted.
"James pretty much carried us down the stretch, being who he is. DJ hit big threes. Zu was solid... They propelled us tonight, and I thank them for it," he added, acknowledging his teammates' efforts.
With this win, the Clippers create some separation in the standings, now holding a two-game lead over the Kings. They currently sit in eighth place in the Western Conference with a 35-29 record.
