After the Dallas Mavericks’ 122-111 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, head coach Jason Kidd gave an interesting take on the team’s offensive structure, especially regarding the role of a number one option.

With key players like Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis sidelined, the Mavericks have been dealing with injuries that have forced them to rethink their offensive approach.

"There's no number one option, it's team. Everyone touches it and whoever is open, shoot it. We don't have a number one or a number two, we're not built like that right now, we're built on team," coach said.

While the Mavs’ offensive structure doesn't center around a singular star, Kidd acknowledged the importance of players like Klay Thompson.

"Klay (Thompson) is one of the best, he's a future Hall of Famer, but we gotta set screens and create those opportunities for him."

Thompson this season averages 14.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game while shooting 41.3% from the field, and 40.1% from the arc.

"It’s gonna be a group effort every night, it’s gonna be someone different, and that can mean that we can be dangerous, cause then no one can load up on one person, and we gotta take advantage of that,” he added.

The Mavericks next game is on the 9th of March, as they will go against the Phoenix Suns.
